Charge Pump LED Driver Using CAT3649

A very simple LED driver electronic project can be designed using the CAT3649 high efficiency quad mode R fractional charge pump IC that can drive up to six LEDs. The inclusion of a 1.33x fractional charge pump mode increases the device efficiency by up to 10% over traditional 1.5x charge pumps with no added external capacitors.Low noise input ripple is achieved by operating at a constant switching frequency which allows the use of small external ceramic capacitors. The multi−fractional charge pump supports a wide range of input voltages from 2.4 V to 5.5 V. The LED current can be adjusted in different ways. The full−scale LED current is set to 25 mA once the device is enabled. Analog dimming in 32 linear steps is achieved via a 1−wire pulse−dimming input (ADIM) Further adjustment of the LED current can be done by applying a pulse width modulation (PWM) signal on the PWM input. The CAT3649 can be shut down by holding the ADIM or PWM input in a logic low condition for greater than 30 ms....

What is color temperature about flexible led strip

Correlated color temperature (or CCT) is an integral aspect of lighting design that TLP must take into account with every project. It is measured in Kelvin degrees and corresponds to the color of the light a lamp puts out.  Warm color temperatures typically used in architectural lighting usually range from 2700K to 3500K.  CCTs below 2700K start to become qualified as amber-colored, and are used in more specialty applications.   Cool color temperatures range from 4000K up to around 7000K. Color temperature preference in lighting design varies depending on the application as well as between geographical locations.  Asian societies tend to prefer higher CCTs in residences, restaurants, and stores; whereas warmer color temperatures are typically more desirable in the same applications in Western society.  Warm CCTs give us a feeling of coziness.  Cooler color temperatures start to come into play in hospitals and some offices, where alertness and attention to...

Simple 13 Color LED Rainbow Circuit Diagram

Only a few years ago, the choice of LED s was limited to IR, red, yellow, and green. The LED manufacturers have been busy extending the spectrum, and filling in the gaps. The latest generation of organic LED s (OLEDs) has added some dazzling new colors to the spectrum. This circuit uses a set of 13 differently colored LED s to generate a full color spectrum. The photo does not fully represent the colors generated due to camera limitations. The real-world display is very eye-catching. If you want to "trick out" your PC, this circuit is for you. Forget about those boring blue PC light displays. Build a 16 LED Chaser Circuit Diagram

This 16 LED Chaser Circuit Diagram is a double direction flash. Similar to Digital Ping- Pong 1, there is a movement of a lit dot, up and down along the LED's length. 16 LED Chaser Circuit Diagram When the D16 lit the situation changes and there is a reverse movement. Lit D15-14 ……D16, is lit making circles when the circuit is under power. The IC1 is an unstable flip- flop supplying with stable frequency pulses (the frequency can be changed by TR1, adjusting the velocity of the LED's up and down). This frequency supplies the IC3 (which is a 4-Bit UP and DOWN counter) through 2 gates A-B of the IC2. The output counter supplies the IC4 that is the driver of the LED's. The parts C- D of The IC2, make a R-S flip- flop, that changes situation, when the edge LED's D1 and D16 lit. We have an electronic limit for the situation change. In proportion the shape we make with the LED's, we can have the proportionate optional result, making various effects. Part List R1= 100Kohm...

Arrow LED Indicator using 74hc14 IC

This arrow led indicator electronic project can be used in some dark places to show the directions . You can use to indicate direction just an illuminated arrow or a flashing light , but is much nicer if the light moves in the correct direction. This arrow led indicator is based on 74HC14 circuit and some LEDs which are used to show the way . For this arrow led indicator we need six series of three LEDs arranged in the shape of arrows and are connected to the outputs . Each time the lit arrows move over by one column so it appears that the arrows run from right to left. Arrow LED Indicator Circuit Diagram If we want to change the speed of the moving light it’s need to change the value of C1 to C3 or R1 to R3 ( a lower value for this components decrease the time of moving lights). If we want a longer arrow we can mount in parallel with existing columns another columns . For power supply we can use batteries or 6V regulated power supply .

LED Volt Meter

Here is a Simple LED Volt meter to Monitor the charge level in Lead Acid Battery or Tubular battery. The terminal voltage of the battery is indicated through a four level LED indicators. The nominal terminal voltage of a Lead Acid battery is 13.8 volts and that of a Tubular battery is 14.8 volts when fully charged. The LED voltmeter uses four Zener diodes to light the LEDs at the precise breakdown voltage of the Zener diodes. Usually the Zener diode requires 1.6 volts in excess than its prescribed value to reach the breakdown threshold level. When the battery holds 13.6 volts or more, all the Zener breakdown and all LEDs light up. When the battery is discharged below 10.6 volts, all the LEDs remain dark. So depending on the terminal voltage of the battery, LEDs light up one by one or turns off. LED Volt Meter Circuit Circuit diagram: LED Volt Meter Circuit Diagram Author: D. White LED Lamp

Did it ever occur to you that an array of white LEDs can be used as a small lamp for the living room? If not, read on. LED lamps are available ready-made, look exactly the same as standard halogen lamps and can be fitted in a standard 230-V light fitting.   We opened one, and as expected, a capacitor has been used to drop the voltage from 230 V to the voltage suitable for the LEDs. This method is cheaper and smaller compared to using a transformer. The lamp uses only 1 watt and therefore also gives off less light than, say, a 20 W halogen lamp. The light is also somewhat bluer. White LED Lamp Circuit Diagram The circuit operates in the following manner: C1 behaves as a voltage dropping ‘resistor’ and ensures that the current is not too high (about 12 mA). The bridge rectifier turns the AC voltage into a DC voltage. LEDs can only operate from a DC voltage. They will even fail when the negative voltage is greater then 5 V. The electrolytic capacitor has a double function: it ensure...

10 Output LED Sequencer Circuit Diagram

This is a simple 10 Output LED Sequencer Circuit Diagram. This is a 10 output LED sequencer . After the last LED is illuminated, the circuit is reset. This circuit is build around readily available, low cost 10 Output LED Sequencer Circuit Diagram Component a 555 and decade counter CD4O1 7. The timer IC NE555 is wired as an astable multivibrator that produces 6Hz clock at its output pin 3. The 4017 is a CMOS decade counter with 10 outputs. Inputs include a CLOCK (Pin 1 4), a RESET (Pin 15), and a CLOCK INHIBIT (Pin 13). The clock input connects to a Schmitt trigger for pulse shaping and allows slow clock rise and fall times (not needed in our case).  The counter advances one output at the rising edge of the clock signal if the CLOCK INHIBIT line is low. A high RESET signal resets the counter to the zero output. The circuit may be configured for counts less than 10 by connecting RESET to an output pin (one after the desired count). Thus, a five stage sequencer can be made by connect...

Identifying a LED

A LED does not have a "Positive" or "Negative" lead. It has a lead identified as the "Cathode" or Kathode" or "k". This is identified by a flat on the side of the LED and/or by the shortest lead. This lead goes to the 0v rail of the circuit or near the 0v rail (if the LED is connected to other components). Many LEDs have a "flat" on one side and this identifies the cathode. Some surface-mount LEDs have a dot or shape to identify the cathode lead and some have a cut-out on one end. Here are some of the identification marks:

Why LED Strip Light Wont Light Up Troubleshooting

Today we'll answer the frequently asked question. "why LED strip light won't light up". If you find your flexible LED strip light won't light up or power up, you may check the following troubleshooting information for help. 1. The lamp beads of led strip light must be broken or damaged during transportation if the light is not covered with full protection. 2. There must be a faulty at the light's soldering points. The soldering may come off if there is any shock during transportation. 3. Soldering with poor quality may cause embrittlement or shedding when the strip light is bent for use. 4. Cheat on tin soldering materials can also cause the same problem as the 2 point we just mentioned. 5. LED lights with flexible installation bending angle is too large, resulting in LED lights with flexible joints and lead to bright copper separation flexible led strip lights 6. A excessive bending may result in the disconnection between the joints and copper foil. 7. Th...

LED Flashlight Using Supercapacitor

Bored of joking with capacitors? Then its time for you to maneuver on to super-capacitors. These have huge storage capabilities. during this article you may conclude the way to build atiny low LED flashlight using supercapacitors. The most disadvantage of capacitors is their giant voltage drop. For this project, a minimum voltage of two volts is needed to light-weight the LED. As a result, the “Joule Thief” style would be incorporated here. Using this, a AA battery is used to light-weight an LED until it's fully discharged.  during this case, a supercapacitor would be taking the place of the battery. Here an LED is employed to perform the operate of a diode. This ensures that there's sufficient voltage across the LED. The necessities of the project are listed below: White LED Super capacitor (10F, 2.7 V) Transistor Torus 1 k ohm resistor Wires Breadboard The torus and therefore the transistor used here comes from an energy-saving lamp HS.
