Rascal Combines Linux and Arduino

Does this sound familiar to you? After spending many hours on optimizing for speed and memory your super-duper MCU application, you can only conclude that it will not run on an Arduino board. You have built the shield (the Arduino compatible extension board) with your special I/O and you wrote most of the software, but these last functions that should add that finishing touch just don’t fit in the board’s memory. Maybe Rascal can help? Built around a 400 MHz AT91SAM9G20 ARM9 from Atmel, the Rascal is an open source Linux board compatible with Arduino extension cards or shields. Programming the board is easy thanks to a library written in Python from Pytronics that allows easy access to peripherals and shields. The Rascal’s firmware comes with a web server that can serve as a programming interface; you can write your applications directly in a web browser connected to the Rascal board.[ ]

Robot Shield for Arduino

The idea behind this post is to bring together some robot designs and transform them in a new device with new hardware and standard software (arduino of course) and so easier to use.  These robots have three things in common: a mechanical structure, the hardware and the software. While the mechanical part is necessarily different. We wanted to understand if there was a hardware board that could be common, with a unique development system. The choice, quite obviously, has the Arduino board, which with its development environment is perfect to create similar projects. [ ]

Simple Temperature Sensor Arduino

Today I am going to show you how to build a simple temperature sensor using one LM35 Precision Temperature Sensor and Arduino, so you can hookup on your future projects. The circuit will send serial information about the temperature so you can use on your computer, change the code as you will. I’m planning to build a temperature sensor with max/min + clock + LCD, and when I get it done, I will post here. Parts: Arduino (You can use other microcontroller, but then you will need to change the code). LM35 Precision Centigrade Temperature Sensor, you can get from any electronic store. Here is the DATA SHEET. BreadBoard Assembling: This is a quick and simple step. Just connect the 5V output from arduino to the 1st pin of the sensor, ground the 3rd pin and the 2nd one, you connect to the 0 Analog Input. Down goes some pictures that may help you, click to enlarge: Here is the Arduino Code, just upload it and check the Serial Communication Option. You can also download the .pde HERE. /* An...

AT MEGA 328 Arduino pinout Circuit Diagram

Here are diagrams that show the pinout of the micro controller Arduino Atmega and most basic circuit diagram with the crystal. Also a pinning and tqpf ATmega328 with Arduino bootloader code. Many times we lost to the passage of Arduino + breadboard to design on paper and then on the PCB . An LCD Clock Kit Suitable for Beginners with Open Source Arduino Firmware

Simpleclock is an easy to assemble attractive 4-digit 7-segment LED display clock with temperature and alarm function. It is available in three display colors: Red, Blue and White. It comes as a kit of through-the-hole parts and can be soldered by any person with basic soldering experience. An attractive acrylic stand is included. [ ]

Theory behind Android Arduino communication via Bluetooth

Bluetooth profile is a wireless communication interface that connects Bluetooth devices. The profiles define requirements for implementing of Bluetooth for various applications, such as, file transfer, wireless headset usage, etc.  The following figure depicts different Bluetooth profiles and their usage.   Serial Port Profile (SPP) is probably the most popular profile used in smart phone based ubiquitous and home automation systems. SPP emulates RS-232 based communication protocols including all the control signals. It is based on ETSI 07, 10 and the RFCOMM protocol (Read more).  RFCOMM is a simple set of transport protocol used for serial port emulation. It supports up to sixty emulated serial links on a single Bluetooth enable device. The emulated serial ports can again multiplexed through single point-to-point connection or point-to-multipoint connection piconet through several Asynchronous Connection-Oriented Logical transport (ACL) links. The flow control mechanis...

Arduino Controlled CNC 3D Printer

The objective of this instructable is to guide your way throw the entire making process of building a BuildersBot machine. An Arduino controlled CNC Router that can also perform 3D printing. The instructions will cover all areas such as, mechanics, electronics and software. [ ]

Simple Arduino Digital Ohmmeter Circuit Diagram

In this post we are going to construct a simple digital ohmmeter circuit using Arduino and 16x2 LCD display. We will also be exploring the other possible circuit ideas using the same concept. By:  Girish Radhakrishnan  The motto of this article is not just making an ohm meter to measure the resistance; your multimeter can better do the same. The main objective of this project is to use the resistance value read by arduino to do some useful projects, for instance, fire alarm, where the change in resistance value of thermistor can be easily detected or automatic irrigation system where, if the resistance of soil goes high the microcontroller can trigger the water pump. The possibility of projects is up to your imagination. Let’s see how to make an ohm meter first and then we move to other circuit ideas. The circuit: The circuit consists of Arduino; you may use your favorite Arduino board, a 16x2 LCD display to showcase the unknown resistor value, a potentiometer to adjust contra...

DIY Dual Stepper Motor Driver Shield for Arduino

Stepper motors are brushless DC motors which can move in discrete steps thanks to the special coil arrangement inside. They are very popular in DIY and industry projects which require accurate mechanical movement control. In this SoloPCB project, we are building a dual stepper motor driver shield based on two Allegro A4988 ICs which can supply up to 35V and 2A and provide overcurrent and thermal protection. [ ]

The Smallest Arduino Clone Possible

Everybody are making Arduino clones. So I thought I should make THE smallest. I took smallest package atmega88 – 28qfn (5mm x 5mm). Routed smallest possible resonator and as much pads as i could fit on in. The result – Smallest Arduino clone ever! Size is only 7.4mm x 7.4mm! Features include: Auto reset UART SPI 4 analog channels 1 digital i/o one LED funny readme with BOM It needs arduino bootloader for atmega88 like ottantotto bootloader, probably it needs some hacking too because the resonator is 8MHz not the Arduino regular 16MHz. RF Based Wireless Message Broadcasting system in Arduino

Hello folks, I am here with a simple and interesting arduino project, RF based wireless Message Transmitting system. By using this system you can feed the data to be transmitted serially to the transmitter from your PC. The project mainly consisting of a Transmitter and a  receiver section. Transmitter is made by Arduino Uno board and receiver is made by Arduino Mega2560. The communication between transmitter and receiver is through RF, Amplitude Shift Keying. (More about Binary Frequency shift keying )  This wireless transmitter and receiver pair operates in 433Mhz. Only one way of communication is possible through this system, the received message will be displayed on a 16x2 alpha-numeric liquid crystal display. The receiving section updates the display whenever a new message arrives from 433Mhz RF transmitter. Read More.....
