5V DC Regulated Power Supply with Short Circuit Protection

This is the circuit diagram of 5V DC regulated power supply which featured with short circuit protection system. There are 2 kind of output that are regulated 5V DC with short circuit protection and without circuit protection. The main circuit is protected from any damage due to short-circuit in the additional power supply circuit by cutting off the derived supply voltage. The derived supply voltage restores automatically when shorting is removed. An indicator LED is utilized to show whether short-circuit exists or not. Power Supply Block: This circuit works just like the ordinary DC power supply adapter, in the main power supply circuit, 230V AC from main home electric source is stepped down by transformer X1 (230V AC primary to 0-9V, 3...

Model Railway Short Circuit Beeper

Short circuits in the tracks, points or wiring are almost inevitable when building or operating a model railway. Although transformers for model systems must be protected against short circuits by built-in bimetallic switches, the response time of such switches is so long that is not possible to immediately localise a short that occurs while the trains are running, for example. Furthermore, bimetallic protection switches do not always work properly when the voltage applied to the track circuit is relatively low. Circuit diagram : Model Railway Short-Circuit Beeper Circuit Diagram The rapid-acting acoustic short-circuit detector described here eliminates these problems. However, it requires its own power source, which is implemented here in the form of a GoldCap storage capacitor with a capacity of 0.1 to 1 F. A commonly available reed switch (filled with an inert gas) is used for the current sensor, but in this case it is actuated by a solenoid instead of a permanent magnet. An ad...

Digital Short Finder Circuit Diagram

This is a simple digital short finder circuit diagram is a specially designed tool for tracking and tracing short and open circuits, broken wires and current leaks on any electrical circuit . In this circuit Transistors Ql and Q2, together with resistors Rl through R7, make up the input balancing stage, which senses the resistance between points X and Y. The input stage is essentially a bridge, consisting of Rl, R2, R6, R7, and the resistance between points X and Y.  Digital Short Finder Circuit Diagram Transistors Q3 and Q4 and their associated passive components form a buzzer, which sounds when the tester detects a short. The buzzer is controlled by the output from Q2. When the input resistance is high (more than about 10 ), Q2 turns on, so its collector potential is close to ground, and the buzzer remains off. When the input resistance is sufficiently low, Q2 turns off, and the buzzer sounds. The frequency of the sound, which is about 1000 Hz, can be adjusted by varying the va...

Electronic Fuse for DC Short Circuit Protection

This is an electronic fuse that protects the load against short circuit. Project Description Relays must be chosen with a voltage value equals to the input voltage. Don’t omit using the 100uF capacitor with appropriate voltage value with respect to the input voltage. If you can’t provide, you can use C106 instead of BRX46. You can adjust the current with using 10K potentiometer. If you will use the fuse with very high currents, lower the 0R6 5W resistor value (ex. 0R47, 0R33, 0R22 or 0R1). Watt value of the resistor should be increased also.
